Sand Dollar

I am a Floridian born and raised. Sometimes it is easy to to take all the beauty here for granted. For instance, collecting shells and sand dollars on the snowy white sand while the sea gulls fly overhead and the wind rustles the sea oats. Florida beaches are magical.
Why not make a sand dollar to have a little bit of Florida magic?



What you need:

Cream or lavender worsted weight yarn
Size F (3.75mm) hook
Scissors
Yarn Needle

Top and Bottom
make 2
work in continuous rounds

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: work 8 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: work 2 sc in each sc around - 16 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, rep from * around - 32 st
  • Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts, rep from * around - 40 st
  • Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts, rep from * around - 48 st
  • Round 7: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts, rep from * around - 56 st

Star:
This is the same pattern as the top for the pear tomato


ch 4, sl st into first ch
* sc 1 around ring
chain 4
sc 3 up the chain 4
repeat from * till you have 5 points

Sew star to center of top circle



Place the top and bottom together with right sides facing outwards.
Join yarn with a sl st, *hdc in the next 6 st, sl st in next stitch around from *
Finish off and weave in ends.
