Pony Hat

One last post before the new year.
I give you the brony pony hat.
Finished hat is about 24 inches around.

Re-Gifting Ornaments

Finished your gift making yet? I have, which means I have lots of little yarn balls rolling around.
This idea really isn't re-gifting but it certainly is re-purposing and it will help use up some of those little odds and ends of yarn.
These mini presents were made from a pattern I did several months ago.

Simple Peacock Earrings

Woot! Lookie here: 10 Beautiful & Free Crochet Earrings Patterns in Thread!

Need a quick and easy gift? I made a pair of these earrings in less than two hours and that included the time it took to de-coffee the inset glass topped coffee table after Weezer knocked over my cup.
These earrings may look like a million bucks but they are easy to make from inexpensive supplies.

Sparkling Snowflake

Every year I like to make ornaments to add to the bows of the Christmas gifts I give.
The wrapping paper I chose this year is silver metallic with rainbow snowflakes so a snowflake ornament was the obvious choice.

A note on December birthdays

Being a December baby, only 8 days before Christmas, people often don't know how to act on my birthday.

This year I want to speak out on how to treat your friends with December birthdays.

Caution...A Head

Okay, sorry about the bad joke. I am a juggler so bad humor comes naturally to me.

Still have that N hook from some of the past projects? Pull that sucker out, this and another hat I will post soon use it.
During the holiday season people on the road seem to be preoccupied. That is why I am so happy that I found Hobby Lobby's I <3 This Yarn NEONS! I made this cute hat from it to give me a little more visibility when I am out on my daily walks.

Pomegranate

Long time no post. I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. My husband and I had a blessed one, we are lucky enough to live in the same town as both of our sets of parents and my husband's grandmother. We had a lovely vegetarian meal.

This pomegranate is super simple and quick. I have been meaning to sit down and write this pattern down for a month now but Christmas gifts and custom orders have been keeping my fingers busy.

Tiny Turkey Leg

Just a little pattern today. I know it is a busy week for everyone but you may be able to squeeze in time to work on this amigurumi, I did.

Romantic Cuffs

Christmas and the winter holidays are fast approaching and my fingers have been in overdrive. I have been making shawls for family and blanket and hat sets for friend's children. Today I needed a break to make something pretty for me.
These romantic cuffs were partly inspired by the lovely Half Moon Shawls by Lion.

Cream Puff

I have sweets on the mind since I skipped my cupcake day. I have major cookie baking to do tomorrow for a belated Halloween party and I know I will be checking all the batches for "poison" so I didn't think I needed a cupcake today.
A little tiny cream puff that won't ruin your diet.

Amigdalota

Ever year a local Greek Orthodox church puts on a Greek Food Festival. This year it fell on the day of my physical so it was a good excuse to go as a reward for not screaming and running out of the doctors office. I must report the stunning result of my blood tests, perfect in all fields. I had the right amount of vitamins, cholesterol, and blood sugar. Yay me! Back to the fest- my husband and I always get a piece or two of spanakopita and tiropita. And what is a Greek celebration without pastries? We splurged and each got a lovely piece of baklava.

Another favorite Greek treat of mine is Amigdalota. It is a melt in your mouth cookie made with almonds. I particularly like the ones with candied cherries on top.

Forest Faerie Cowl

I got it done before dark. Yay!
This is a chunky cowl is crocheted holding 3 strands together instead of using a bulky yarn. I like the color it adds to the project. The cowl is also gathered at four points to help the fit.
I'm not normally a green person but when I came across the beautiful pea coat at Goodwill I couldn't say no. Not only is it beautiful, it also fits me perfectly. An unexpected bonus is that it matches some yarn I just bought.

Halloween

I am almost all better. Although now I think I have a cold coming on. I promise I am working on a new pattern today but I am not sure if I will have it done in time to take pics.  To make up for it I will introduce you all to our newest family member and show off our Halloween costumes.

Chibi Ninja

The Halloween curse strikes again! I get sick every year around this time. I am finally on antibiotics and have hopes of recovering soon. Needless to say, I have been slightly out of my mind for several days so this post took a little longer than planned to get up.
When my niece and nephew started taking karate I had hopes that they would grow up to have my dream job, NINJA!

My most requested pattern is now here. Sorry it took so long.
Crocheted kitty ears!

My Cat's Favorite Mouse

Weezer's favorite toys have always been those cheapy half moon mice from the pet store. He kills them easily so I made him some that could take the abuse.
Do kitties love toys?
Yes
Do kitties like to hide toys?
Yes
Are you ever going to find that toy that he/she batted under the fridge?
Probably not.

Goodbye my dearest friend

A little of my heart has died. My best friend in the whole world passed away tonight. Mercury was the most amazing cat I ever knew. He was my partner in crime and was always up for going on a midnight trip to the drive-thru to get breakfast. He loved chocolate, pizza, and even would steal steamed broccoli off our dinner plates.

Kitten Mitts

If you have come from Crochet Dynamite, welcome!
If you haven't, welcome!

Jaime at Crochet Dynamite did a wonderful post about NyanPon's Knits and Crochet. Check it out here

Adding a more glamorous spin to paw print mitts.
These mitts whip in in several hours, which makes them great for a last minute party.

Florida Shrug

When knitting or crocheting, garments are not the first thing that come to mind for me. I have a feeling it is because in Florida we really don't have seasons. It's October now and still in the 90s when it isn't raining. I wanted a little touch of fall without over heating so I designed this feminine little shrug.
and from the back.
The ribbed bands help with fit.
I made it out of a yarn with a touch of wool to give it a little warmth.
But more importantly, it has iridescent sparkle!

Takoyaki

While working on a new food item it magically turned into something else.
That something else is something I have been wanting to do for a while now so it was a pleasant surprise.
Takoyaki! A lovely little ball of fried octopus goodness. This is Japanese street food at it's best.

It's that time of year again!

Nyan Bow

I bet you all think I named my blog after Nyan Cat.
Not true, but I do love that silly, little, space traveling cat.
I even have it set as one of my alarms on my phone.
Rainbows+Cats+Strawberry Toaster Pastries (double points for rainbow sprinkles)= WIN
This project is perfect for using all those mini balls of yarn you can't part with yet are too small for most things.

Breakfast Radish

We will be planting several rows of radishes this week.
Ringo, my bunny, will be excited to get the tops.

Butternut Squash

Happy Vernal Equinox! To celebrate I made a squash.
Also Happy Hobbit Day!

Organic Carrot

While cage cleaning Ringo decided to help me model my newest creation.
Baby bunnies have to be the cutest thing EVER!

Peaches or Plums

It has been pretty busy around the house this week. I dove in and completed a 12 foot long Doctor Who scarf and we welcomed a baby bunny into our family.
It has been too long since I added a food item. Hope it was worth the wait.

With a simple color change this could be a peach, plum, or even an apricot.

Beaded Fringe Necklace

Threading the beads is the most difficult part of this necklace, once you get past the beading the necklace is worked in no time at all.
Although I used frosted glass chips for this necklace it would look amazing made with semi precious or even precious stone chips.

Owlet

This summer while cleaning and packing up my husband's Grandmother's estate we split up her owl collection. Some came with her up to her new apartment, and the rest got split between her daughters then us grand kids. The one piece I was sure would be snapped up wasn't, I got it without a fight.

Mini Candy Corn Bunny

Next week my husband and I will be welcoming a new furbaby into our household. We are adopting a rescue rabbit. We have been working hard on finishing the hutch. The frame work is done and we painted it yesterday, the screening will go on later this week. I will be sure to post pictures when we finish.

White Squirrel

Although rare in the wild, white squirrels are a common sight at several local state parks and wildlife preservation centers.
My husband claimed this little guy before I had even made him. He loves squirrels.

Flower Girl Clips

Sweet little clips that are cute for everyday wear but are also pretty enough for a special occasion.

Rainbow Chain Headband

A fun spin on chain headbands.

Most chained headbands I have seen have been 1-3 strands and are worked in a round. This headband has ties for an adjustable fit.

Beaded Game Day Headband

Some of my favorite things to crochet are headbands. I love Ravelry's free selection - I make many from it, although I rarely get around to posting pics of the finished ones.
College football starts this weekend and I wanted to make a quick headband that would keep my wispy growing out bangs out of my face. I came up with this fun beaded one. Make one in your school colors and it will be an instant hit.

One Skein Ruffled Capelet

You may think that knit/crochet is my greatest passion. It's not, thrift shopping is. I'm not the type to buy something just because it is cheap, I know what I want and I love getting it super cheap.
This week I found a full skein of Lion Brand Homespun yarn. I am not one to leave poor yarn all alone so I took it to the counter and the lady only charged me 50 cents for it. DEAL :)

Lassie Wig

This hat was featured on the Moogly Blog Crochet Wig post

I finally have red hair! It should have been mine at birth (it always skips a generation), instead I got stuck with black. I can change that whenever I want now.
This hat will fit most teen/adult women. This hat is slightly slouchy so you can tuck your hair up into it. If you crochet loosely you may want to not do all the increase rounds.

Little Leek

Another veggie from our garden. I hope we can harvest ours soon.
Leeks are a favorite of mine, I love to make leek and potato soup.

No Holes Barred Scarf

This pattern is wonderfully flexible. It will work with nearly any sized hook and yarn.
I would love to see this scarf made with a heavy fishmen's wool or a thin fingerling yarn.
Want a wide scarf? Try upping the chain to 41.

Beet

Beats me why I wanted to make a beet.
I don't even like them.

Laulau

My sister in law lives in Hawaii and is always posting wonderful pictures.
I was incredibly jealous when she posted a big pot full of laulau ready to be steamed.

Habanero

Is the Hot Pepper pattern not hot enough?
A habanero may not be as hot as a ghost chili but it is plenty spicy.

Daddy Octopus

I used to do art trades for this size octopus. They were very popular with parents of toddlers.
I like to make sets of three, one of each size. Octos are great because they can appeal to boys or girls depending on what colors you choose.

Baby Octopus

What could be cuter than the Kawaii Octopus Amigurumi?

A baby one!

Heavy Duty Potholder

This pattern is in homage of my knitting mentor.
This was the first thing she showed me how to do.

Kitty Harness Recipe

When a friend of mine posted this picture
I had to ask for the pattern to share with you.

Please note: This is a recipe, you will need to tweak here and there to make it fit your kitty.
Use what ever hook you have, gauge is not important to this project.
Be sure to measure your kitty before you start.

Fruit Bat

While killing time in the hospital last week I dove into a true classic, Dracula. With my great love of fantasy and creatures of the night I can't believe I hadn't read it before. Truly worth the unabridged read.
Even though this little buddy only eats fruit he still would please any vampire fan.

Fuzzy Bunny Hat

Why should kids have all the fun?
Finished hat fits most teen/adult woman. It is about 21 inches around.

Whether you are an elf, ogre, halfling, Jedi knight, or even a Japanese demon
they will have you covered.

Petit Four

A favorite birthday/holiday treat of mine are petit fours. My mother and grandmother both are found of them too. When my mother was younger she and my grandmother would make them for Easter and very special birthdays.
These can be made in any color and decorated in any way.
Check out Google for decorating ideas.
