Crayon Roll

I think crayon rolls are darling. Here is one so easy it might hurt your head.
I made the pockets bigger than most rolls I have seen so you can fit normal, large, or maybe even jumbo crayons.

What you need:

Worsted weight yarn in:
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, brown, black, and mexicana (or a fun ombre yarn)
Size I (5.5mm) hook
Yarn needle

Roll:

with red chain 29
work 4 sc rows - 28 sts
work 4 rows of sc with each color excluding the ombre
weave in any ends

You will have a lovely rainbow rectangle

Fold the bottom edge up 3 inches. With ombre yarn join at start and work sc along the edge. When you reach the left corner work through both layers, break yarn. Join yarn at bottom right corner and work through both layers along flap edge, then along top, slip stitch to left flap corner and break yarn. Weave in ends.

Thread a long strand of ombre yarn on the needle and stitch between colors.

For tie chain a 22 inch long chain. Tie knots on each end.
