Fresh Muffins/Cupcakes

These small muffins are great for make-believe tea parties. Prefer cupcakes? I have you covered too.


What you need:

Scrap worsted weight yarn
Size F (3.75mm) hook
Polyester fiberfill
Scissors
Yarn needle
Clip to keep place

Muffin/Cupcake
Work in continuous rounds, do not join

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
  • Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 36 st
  • Rounds 7-8: sc in each sc around -36 st
  • Round 9: *sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around FLO - 30 st
  • Round 10: *sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Rounds 11-12: sc in each sc around - 24 st
  • Round 13: *sc2tog, sc in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around - 21 st
  • Rounds 14-15: sc in each sc around -21 st
  • Round 16: sc in each sc around BLO -21 st
  • Round 17: *sc2tog, sc next st, rep from * around- 14 st
  • Stuff
  • Round 18: *sc2tog around - 7 st 
  • Sew up and weave in ends

The "blueberries" are just single stitches all over muffin after stuffing. Red Heart's fleck Super Saver yarn would make great nut or berry muffins.


Icing:
Work in continuous rounds, do not join
Work in BLO

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
  • Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 36 st
  • Round 7: sc in each sc around -36 st
  • Round 8: *(3 dc) in one st, sk 1, sc, sk 1,  rep from * around
  • break yarn, weave in ends

If you wish you could sew on your icing, I left mine separate so the recipient can ice her own cupcakes
