Watercress Tea Sandwiches

Tea sandwiches, one of the most unnecessary but appealing things ever. My mom and I used to make tea sandwiches for my tea parties, we would take our vintage cookie cutters and make little heart and stars filled with egg salad or jams. My niece will be living too far away for me to do this with her, but you never know what the future will hold.
Over the next few days I will be posting several tea sandwiches perfect for make believe.

Crayon Roll

I think crayon rolls are darling. Here is one so easy it might hurt your head.
I made the pockets bigger than most rolls I have seen so you can fit normal, large, or maybe even jumbo crayons.

Crayon Hat

This little hat would be cute on a toddler or young child, especially for a Halloween costume.

Cupcake Chapeau

Now, cupcake hats are not new but I only just jumped on the bandwagon. I tried making a few from other patterns but I ended up making my own.

Lipstick Case Recipe

One of my favorite little things are lipstick cases, they give everyday life a little bit of glam.
While there are many lip balm cozy patterns out there I wanted an old fashioned case.

Retro Rabbit Ears

It's cold. It is very cold. I don't like the cold. I am bundled up in a rainbow granny square blanket with a cup of hot coffee, a kitty, and listening to the Rockabilly channel on Pandora all while dreaming of the Florida weather we are supposed to have right now.

When (or if) I leave the house I have to keep my ears warm and face it, I don't always want to wear a bulky hat. I like the idea of ear warmers but I find most of them only look cute in a snow bunny skiing kind of setting. I sat down last night while waiting for the National Championship game (YEAH! GO NOLES, sorry) and crocheted this headband/ear warmer in just about an hour.

So tease and curl your hair, put on some red lipstick, tune up your rockabilly channel, and start crocheting.

Happy New Years

It's 2014, can you believe it? I  don't really make resolutions but I promise to post fun new patterns and work on the layout of the website.

Wibbly Wobbly Juggling Balls

My niece and nephew are finally mature enough to learn how to juggle, this year for Christmas they will be getting juggling sticks and balls. Along with the new goodies they will be getting juggling lessons from my husband and myself.

Inside pics only, it's cold outside :)

Gear it Up

This weekend I went to a steampunk convention. I was a little nervous because I didn't have a themed costume but I pulled out an Victorian Gothic dress, a mini top hat, corset and hoped for the best. I worry too much, everyone at the con was super sweet and friendly and loved my get up (especially my coffin purse). I'm still waiting for some of the great shots from the con, I will be sure to share a few when I get them.

Anyway... back to crochet.
The lovely little gears would be beautiful as embellishments on costumes or starch them to make lovely steampunk Christmas ornaments.

Tea Bag Cosy

I am a tea drinker, (think Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim) lots and lots of tea, all sorts. Although I prefer loose tea, when I travel I take along a few prepackaged bags.
Make the tea bag in any color (try the color of your favorite tea). Stuff lightly then whip stitch closed and it can be an amigurumi rather than a tea bag cosy.
