Bitty Bird and Nest Amigurumi


A tiny birdie and nest.
Another scrap buster pattern.


What you need:
Worsted weight acrylic yarn
(I used Red Heart Super Saver)
In bird color, beak color, nest color, and
a scrap of black
Eyelash yarn
(I used Cello)
Size F5 (3.75 mm) hook
Size 7 (4.5mm) hook
Polyester fiber fill
Yarn needle
Clip to keep place
Scissors



Body:
Work in continuous rounds
F hook

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5-10: Sc in each sc around
  • Round 11: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 12: *Sc2tog, sc in next st, rep from * around - 12 st
  • Stuff firmly
  • Round 13: Sc2tog around -6 st
  • Sew up end and weave in end

 Beak:
Work in continuous rounds
 F hook
  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: sc
  • leave yarn tail for sewing up later

 Wings:
Work in continuous rounds
 Make 2
F hook
  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2:  Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • leave yarn tail for sewing up later 


Tail:
F hook 

  • Chain 6
  • Row 1-3: sc in back loops only -5 st
  • Gather end
  • leave yarn tails for sewing up later


  
 Nest:
Work in continuous rounds
7 hook

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5-7: Sc in each sc around
  • Row 8: Switch to eyelash yarn and sc 
  • Finish off and weave in ends
Assembly:

Sew on beak and stitch eyes. Center tail in back and sew.
Last but not least sew on wings, I just sew the 3 top stitches.


Make them in any color!
They look super cute in black and yellow :)
