Kitten Mitts

Adding a more glamorous spin to paw print mitts.
These mitts whip in in several hours, which makes them great for a last minute party.


What you need:

Matching colors of a worsted weight and eyelash yarn
Paw pad color worsted weight yarn
Size J (6 mm) hook
Size F (3.75mm) hook
Scissors
Sewing needle and thread or hot glue
Yarn needle

 Mitts:
Make two
J hook

With a J hook chain the same length as around your palm, add 1 chain.
My chain was 23.

Chain 23, sc back across chain -22 st
Rows 2-30: Chain 1 turn, sc across 
do not break yarn
Fold in half with wrong size facing outwards.
Place your hand on folded mitt. Mark placement of thumb hole with scrap yarn.
Sc to bottom of thumb hole.
Break yarn and weave in end.
Join yarn and sc from top of thumb hole to top of mitt.
Turn right side out. Join yarn and sc around thumb hole.
Join eyelash yarn and sc around top and bottom of mitts.

Paw Pad:
Make 2
F hook

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Finish off, weave in ends

Toes:
Make 8
F Hook

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: work 6 sc in first chain
  • Finish off, weave in ends
 Sew or glue on paws.
If using hot glue, place a piece of cardboard inside mitt to assure you don't glue your mitt together.
Remember to reverse paws so they will both be on the inside when you wear them.
