Teeny Tiny Falafel

I have garbanzos that are burning a hole in my pantry wanting to be made into a beautiful falafel.


What you need:
Worsted weight acrylic yarn
Size I (5.5 mm)
Size 7 (4.5 mm) hook
Clip to keep place
Yarn needle
Scissors

Flat Bread/Pita:
Light brown, I hook
(chain 1 and turn after each row)
Make 2

Chain 3
Row 1: sc 2
Row 2: 2 sc in first st, sc 1 -3 st
Row 3: sc 2, 2 sc in last st - 4 st
Row 4: 2 sc in first st, sc 3 - 5 st
Row 5:  sc 4, 2 sc in last st - 6 st
Row 6: 2 sc in first st, sc 5 - 7 st
Row 7:  sc 6, 2 sc in last st - 8 st
Row 8: sc -8 st
Row 9: 2 sc in first st, sc 7 - 9 st
Row 10: sc -9 st
Row 11:  sc 8, 2 sc in last st - 10 st
Row 12-14: sc -10 st
Row 15: sc 8, sc2tog - 9 st
Row 16: sc -9 st
Row 17: sc 7, sc2tog- 8 st
Row 18: sc -8 st
Row 19: sc 6, sc2tog - 7 st
Row 20: sc2tog, sc 5 -6 st
Row 21: sc 4, sc2tog - 5 st
Row 22: sc2tog, sc 3 - 4 st
Row 23: sc 2, sc2tog - 3 st
Row 24: sc2tog, sc - 2 st
Break yarn


On second half don't break yarn, instead sc along top of half. Place on top of other half and sc pieces together (along bottom). When back at top sc along the last top edge.

Falafel:
Brown, size 7 hook
Make 3 +


  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: sc -18 st
  • Round 5: *sc2tog, sc in each of next 1 sts, rep from * around - 12 st 
  • stuff 
  • Round 6: sc2tog around -6 st
  • weave in ends

Lettuce:
Green, size 7 hook
Make 1 or 2


  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5: chain 2, 4 dc in each sc around
  • slip stitch to join, weave in ends


Stuff it all in and gaze upon it as you wish you had a real one in your hand instead.
