Mehndi Snood

A bun cover/snood inspired by beautiful mehndi designs.

What you need:

Size 3 crochet thread
Size D (3.25mm) hook
2.5 inch fabric covered hair band
Scissors
Needle

Step 1
chain 6, sl st to form ring
chain 3, dc 24, sl st to join

Step 2

ch 1, *sc, sk 2 sts, 5 dc (in one st), sk 2 sts
repeat from * so you have 4 petals
sl st to join

Step 3

ch 8 (this counts as a dc chain 5) *sc into top of  petal, chain 5, dc into sc, ch 5
repeat from * around and sl st into chain 8 to join

Step 4

ch 1 sc 7 in each chain space, sl st to join

Step 5

sl st 3, ch 1, *sc (this will be the middle top of the last row),*chain 7,  sc to top middle sc of previous row
repeat from * around, sl st to join

Step 6

ch 1, sc 11 in each chain space, sl st to join

Step 7

sl st 5, ch 1, sc (this will be the middle top of the last row), *chain 7, sc to top middle sc of previous row
repeat from * around, sl st to join

Step 8

ch 1, sc 11 in each chain space, sl st to join

I have longish, thickish hair and this cover fits me just fine (it will stretch some with wear). If after step 8 it looks to small for your hair repeat steps 7 and 8 several more times.

Step 9

Ch 2, *sc (around hair band) sk 1,  around
You will need to pull the band tight as you work around

Finish off and weave in ends well

Freshly worked snood vs the one I have worn several times now, it will stretch slightly to fit your hair.
