Subspace Suitcase

I am a big fan of the Scott Pilgrim series by Bryan Lee O'Malley. My favorite character and the one I identify with the most is Ramona Flowers. If you haven't read the graphic novels I highly suggest you do, they are wonderful.

I made this pattern for my cosplay of Ramona but it turned out so well I want to share it with you.
The pattern I used for the star can be found here.

Assembly:

With your accent color (I used hot pink) join yarn and sc around the ridge created by the BLO round on side one of your suitcase. Finish off and weave in ends.

On second side join accent yarn and sc around  BLO row, place side one on side two and join the rest of the way around with sc. Break yarn and weave in ends.
Your bag will look like a bag now.

With desired color work strap. I started mine right under the open portion. Work 6 dc wide, crochet till it is about 4-5 inches shorter than the length you want it to be (remember crochet stretches with wear). Sew securely to opposite side tie well, and weave in ends. Now your bag is together you can sew on your star. This pattern was the one I used.

Sew in zipper. I used the only zipper I had that was long enough, it was red but it didn't really matter. You can leave your bag like this but it is rather squishy so if you would like it to stand out more you can cut strips of plastic canvas to sew in to stiffen the edges then line with fabric to keep in place.

***This pattern is fan art. I did not invent the subspace suitcase or the Scott Pilgrim series, the amazing Bryan Lee O'Malley did. I made this in homage of my favorite character. Please use this pattern for private use only.***
