Is the Hot Pepper pattern not hot enough?
A habanero may not be as hot as a ghost chili but it is plenty spicy.
What you need:
Worsted weight acrylic yarn
12 inches of green embroidery floss
Size F (3.75 mm) hook
Polyester fiber fill
Yarn needle
Clip to keep place
Scissors
Pepper Top:
Work in continuous rounds
- Chain 2
- Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
- Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
- Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
- Round 4-9: Sc in each sc around
- Round 10: *Sc2tog, sc in next st, rep from * around - 12 st
- Stuff firmly
- Round 11: Sc2tog around -6 st
- Sew up end
- Leave a tail of 24 inches
Run yarn to top of pepper and thread down through the hole in the middle, pull tight. Repeat so you have two threads pulling a curve down into your pepper.
Repeat till you have 4 curves. Weave in ends.
Pepper Bottom:
Work in continuous rounds
- Chain 2
- Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
- Round 2: 2 sc in first sc, 2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, 2 sc - 8 st
- Round 3: 2 sc in first sc, 3 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, 3 sc - 10 st
- Round 4: 2 sc in first sc, 4 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, 4 sc - 12 st
- Round 5: 2 sc in first sc, 5 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, 5 sc - 14 st
Fold embroidery floss in half and cut. Using both pieces of floss, thread into the top of the pepper. Braid. When you reach the desired length tie overhand knot and cut off extra floss.
