Nyan Bow

I bet you all think I named my blog after Nyan Cat.
Not true, but I do love that silly, little, space traveling cat.
I even have it set as one of my alarms on my phone.
Rainbows+Cats+Strawberry Toaster Pastries (double points for rainbow sprinkles)= WIN
This project is perfect for using all those mini balls of yarn you can't part with yet are too small for most things.

What you need:

8 colors of DK or worsted weight yarn
Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Tan
Size H (5.00 mm) hook
Bugle beads
Sewing thread
Beading needle
Yarn needle
Scissors

Bow:

Using red chain 19
Sc back across, chain 1 -18 st
Work 2 rows in each of orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
Tie off and weave in all ends.

Cut a short length of yarn in any color and sew a running stitch down the center of the bow.
Pull tight to gather then tie knot.
I like to wrap the yarn around several more times then knot for extra hold.

Toaster Pastry:

With pink chain 6
Sc back across, chain 1 -5 st
Work till you have 11 rows.
With tan sc down each side of  pink.
Weave in tan ends.

Liberally bead the pastry.

Using the tails of pink sew the "toaster pastry" around your rainbow bow.
Weave in ends.

To wear:

Be creative, this could be put on just about anything.
I have several on barrettes. Crochet a headband or glue it to a premade headband.
Sew to a hat or a pair of  kitty ears.
Run a piece of elastic through the back and tie for an instant bow tie - Because bow ties are cool.
