Crooked Neck Squash

I love squash. It was heart breaking when pests destroyed my hanging squash garden last year, I had looked forward to gorging myself on beautiful fresh squash this season.


What you need:
Yellow and green worsted weight acrylic yarn
Size F (3.75) hook
Clip to keep place
Yarn needle
Scissors

Squash:
work in continuous rounds, yellow
  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
  • Rounds 6-12: sc in each sc around - 30 st
  • Round 13: *sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 14: *sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 18 st 
  • Round 15-16: sc in each sc around - 18st
  • Round 17: *sc2tog, sc in each of next 1 sts, rep from * around - 12 st 
  • stuff bottom of squash
  • Rounds 18-28: sc in each sc around -12 st
  • finish stuffing
  • Round 29: sc2tog around -6 st

Top:
Made just like the flowers from last week (photo from Boho Doll Top)
make 1 in green

Chain 2
*dc, sl st, in second chain from hook
Repeat from * 4 more times
Break yarn, sew to top of squash.
Weave in ends.
