Eye Balls

Just in time for the Halloween season, why not make some eye balls? Stuff them with fluff for a soft toy or fill them with plastic beads for juggling or hacky sack.


What you need:
Scrap acrylic worsted weight yarn in
White, pink/red and two colors for the iris
Size G (4.25mm) hook
12mm safety eye
Polyester fiber fill or plastic beanbag beads
Yarn Needle
Scissors

Iris:

With the lighter of the two iris colors chain 2, work 9 sc into first chain, slip stitch to join.
Change color to darker iris color and work 2 sc in each sc around, slip stitch to join.
Break yarn leaving 12 inches of yarn to sew iris to ball.

Set eye in middle of iris

Ball:

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
  • Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 36 st
  • Round 7-10: sc in each sc around -36 st
  • Round 11:*sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 30 st 
  • Round 12:*sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 24 st 
  • Round 13:*sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 18 st 
  • Finish off and stuff

Sew iris to ball. If desired stitch blood vessels.
